Sorry about your luck Pelicans fans. Zion Williamson is out for 6-8 weeks, or at least 20 regular-season games, after having knee surgery on October 21st. The surgery was to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

New Orleans Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry suspects Williamson injured the knee on October 13th against the San Antonio Spurs. Williamson didn't travel with the team for their final preseason game against the New York Knicks later in the week.

The former Duke player was the No. 1 overall pick in June's NBA Draft. He averaged 23.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and shot 71.4% in the four preseason games he played.

"We have a deep team. We'll hold it down as best we can without him. Obviously we need him back and hopefully, he takes his time and recovers fully," said JJ Redick, Pelicans guard.
