Ben Roethlisberger Has A Three Year Plan
Every year in Pittsburgh one of the big storylines for the Steelers is whether Ben Roethlisberger plans to retire or not. For the past several years he has flirted with the idea, but now he's putting it to bed. After signing a two year contract extension before the NFL Draft, the future Hall of Famer revealed to the team that he plans to play, "three to five more years."
At 37-years-old, that means Big Ben is hoping to join Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in the 40+ quarterback club. Both of them won Super Bowls after the big birthday, so maybe Roethlisberger can, too!
The thought for Roethlisberger believing he can continue to play at an elite level into his NFL twilight years isn't as far fetched as it may sound. In 2018, he set career highs in several statistical categories including pass attempts and pass yards.
Pittsburgh also has a talented core of young players on both sides of the ball that are ready to win now. As for the two big players no longer on the team (LeVeon Bell and Antonio Brown), that just makes life easier for the quarterback. Both had become locker room problems that undoubtedly pushed him to consider retiring in the past. Now with them gone, he's free to think about the future.
