Wrestling | 3/27/19

WWE has a flair for the dramatics, and that can be especially seen in the theatrical entrances of the performers. For most wrestlers, it's one of the only ways to really share their personality with the audience. Like anything, some people just do it better than others.

From picking catchy songs like Hulk Hogan's "Real American", to the full smoke, lights, and costume production of someone like Finn Balor, there are certain entrances that always receive a pop. This article takes a look at the most iconic entrances of all time from the past and the present.

Rey Mysterio is one of the most electric personalities to ever hit the WWE stage. He dazzled crowds and arenas all over the world with his fast-paced, acrobatic style.

Before his matches, he would fly through the air and launch himself from the depths of the arena before landing with a pop. Another thing that he does during his entrance is find a young kid who's wearing his trademark mask and puts his head against theirs, creating a very intimate moment that the kid will never forget.

The Hardy Boyz are one of the iconic wrestling duos that haven't changed their entrance too much since they came to the WWE. There's a sense of comfort when you start to hear the drums and bassline hit as Jeff Hardy comes bounding through the curtain while Matt Hardy throws up the V1.

It's an entrance that is often imitated but never duplicated because no one can do an entrance like the Hardy Boyz.

Stone Cold's entrance music changed the sound of glass shattering for everyone living in the 90s. When you heard that first Stone Cold song, you knew someone was about to get beat down.

It's safe to say that Austin was the closest thing the WWE had to a real-life Batman. He was the main protagonist in wrestlings biggest era. Everything was about to be alright as soon as you knew The Rattlesnake was about to enter the arena.

Bayley has one of the bubbliest entrances in professional wrestling. You can't help but have a big smile on your face when you hear her upbeat introduction music and see her ear-to-ear smile walk through those curtains.

Bayley summons a collection of wacky inflatable arm-flailing tube-men named "Bayley Buddies" that accompany her as she dances happily on her way to the stage. Bayley doesn't intimidate her opponent when her entrance song, but she's a huge hit with the kids.

It's safe to say that The Rock used to walk down the aisle up to the ring with the swagger only befitting The People's Champ. If his catchphrase, "If ya smell... what The Rock is cookin'" screamed throughout the arena isn't scary enough, his bee-line straight for the ring would probably do it.

He climbs to the top rope and raises one arm sending the millions (and millions) of fans into a frenzy.

There aren't many entrances in the WWE that can send chills through your entire body. Weirdly enough, Shinsuke Nakamura has one of those rare electrifying entrances in which you can actually see the hairs on your arm raise with every chord of Nakamura's theme song.

The violin mixed with the addictive energy in the building makes the entrance almost overwhelming. He strikes his signature pose at the end on the side of the ring, all while the fans attempt to sing along.

He shot out of his dressing room with his own security team as the camera followed his every move backstage. As soon as he entered the arena, he was surrounded by golden sparks on the stage.

He's one of the only wrestlers who has a countdown before his entrance. You better be bringing the heat if you're going to have a countdown, and Chris Jericho more than delivers.

He blares a siren that's heard loud and clear from the highest seat in the arena with a 10-second countdown clock. The arena lights go out after the clock strikes zero as a wall of fireworks burst from the stage. After the smoke clears, Jericho appears with his back to the crowd, along with his signature jacket.

He's probably the closest thing to a demon that the WWE has ever seen. In storyline, Kane survived his parent's funeral home catching fire and scarring him for life, which made him unique and more terrifying than everyone else.

The Devil's Favorite Demon haunted the crowd and his future opponents with a massive explosion of fire on stage before walking down to the ring. After the smoke cleared, he would summon the fury within his soul as flames shot out from all four ring posts.

We can thank Triple H for making the act of drinking water, or at least putting water in your mouth, seem cool again. After the opening cords of Motorhead, Triple H pour water onto his head as he stood on the stage and spit it out, creating an aesthetically exhilarating visual.

With the spotlight on him, he climbed the turnbuckle and spat out another mouthful of water while stretching out his arms. Without a doubt, he made everyone wary about 'playing The Game."

The Undertaker has one of the most iconic entrances of all time. Like any legend, the way that he intimidates his opponents as he makes his way to the ring hasn't changed much in the 25+ years he's been in professional wrestling.

As soon as you hear the gong strike, The Deadman emerges through a blanket of purple haze. His glare could scare away the biggest bear and it's impossible to not feel goosebumps or grab the hand of the random stranger sitting beside you once he rolls his eyes in the back of his head.

Wyatt walks onto the stage with his lantern and is met by the glow of thousands of lit up phones in the arena, meant to symbolize his followers, known as fireflies. Wyatt walks around the ring before blowing out his lantern as the lights come back up.

Hulk Hogan was one of the first megastars to put some effort into his entrance. His larger-than-life personality perfectly matched his larger-than-life entrance into the wrestling ring. He had unmatched energy when he came through that curtain and it would turn even the biggest Hulk hater into a Hulkamaniac.

As soon as the opening chords for "Real American" blared through the arena, Hulk would storm out pointing at his opponent in the ring as he marched down the aisle.

The Ultimate Warrior looked completely crazy when he entered the ring. He ran into the arena to an iconic guitar and drum riff that sent everyone in the crowd frantically cheering on their feet.

He charged out of the curtain while his right fist was pumping above his head. With his tassels blowing in the wind, Warrior would spin onto the apron and shake the ropes as if they owed him money. It's incredible to think that he even had any energy left to wrestle.

If you're a fan of neon, you're going to be a fan of Naomi when she enters the arena. She fought to earn her spot, competing on the third season of WWE NXT to become one of the most dynamic champions in the Women's division.

The lights go out as Naomi struts out from behind the curtain in her all neon gear. Her gear and her green hair act as the only light in the entire building and the arena starts to look more like a night club than anything else. It's impossible not to 'feel the glow' when Naomi enters the ring.

If you're a big fan of a nice piano riff before an entrance, you're going to love Bobby Roode. A big piano keyboard lights up the aisle as the arena turns completely black. When the keyboard stops playing, an inescapable light shines on Bobby Roode, who's seen in his robe on a spinning pedestal.

Everyone in the stadium is shouting "GLORIOUS" as loud as they can. It's a simple entrance, but the swagger, audience participation, and electricity of the entrance lands him on this list.

There's nothing that Goldust has ever done in professional wrestling that won't weird you out, from his absolutely bizarre outfit to his completely eery behavior. As he took the ring, the arena would have a golden hue. In his heyday, Goldust created a ton of controversy in WWE's TV-14 climate.

Gold confetti would rain down on the WWE universe as he took off his blonde wig and robe. His entrance made him an unforgettable staple in the WWE.

John Cena doesn't really have an electric entrance, but he deserves to be on this list because he's the biggest star the WWE has seen since The Rock. He's also the only wrestler who has had his entrance music turned into a meme. The "unexpected Cena" became a viral hit in 2015 and now his entrance song is the most known in the YouTube era.

It also should be noted that he's one of the only wrestlers to actually voice their entrances.

Vampires are incredibly scary at their base level. But, imagine a vampire who looks like he can bench an entire school bus. That's absolutely terrifying. Gangrel took everything about the vamp-life and cranked it to 1000.

Before he entered the ring, the arena would turn blood red, and a ring of fire would form around the stage. His gothic music would infest everyone's ears as he walked out onto the top of the ring steps. From there he would spit red liquid into the air as it dripped onto his white shirt.
