Washington Nationals Win Game One Of World Series

Baseball | 10/23/19

It's still early, but Washington National fans are excited in this year's World Series, and for good reason! The team won Game One of the World Series on October 22nd against the Houston Astros.

This puts the Nationals ahead 1-0 in the best-of-seven series. The win also marks the first-ever World Series game win for the team. The Astro's originally had a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but were held to the two runs until the fourth inning. The final score of the game was 5-4.

Ryan Zimmerman's home run in the second inning put the Nationals on the board, and Juan Soto later tied the game with his own solo home run. Soto sealed the deal in the fifth inning when he brought in three runs to extend the team's lead.

It might be too early to tell who will win the World Series, but this is a great start for the Nationals. According to MLB Stats, 18 of the last 22 teams who managed to win the first game of the World Series have gone on to win the entire championship.

Game Two will take place on October 23rd at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. Maybe the Astro's home-field advantage will help them win the second game.
