Sports Are Back!
After several months on pause, professional sports have officially started back up in the United States. Major League Soccer was the first league start with the nationally televised MLS is Back tournament, a World Cup style, 64 match tournament taking place in a "bubble" at Disney World in Florida.
Major League Baseball roared back next. On July 23rd, after several weeks of team only practices, the shortened 60 game season kicked off on ESPN with a doubleheader. First up was the New York Yankees taking on the defending World Series champion Washington Nationals. That game was followed by the Los Angeles Dodgers pitting their dangerous roster against the rebuilding San Francisco Giants.
Coming up at the end of July will be the National Basketball Association. Looking to finish its suspended season in a "bubble" in Florida, the NBA started playing exhibition games this week as the league prepares for its July 30th restart date.
Unlike MLS and MLB, the NBA season will only feature 22 teams - those who were still in playoff contention when he season stopped.
Still ahead, the National Hockey League will be looking to finish its season, although no official date has been set as of this writing.
As for the National Football League - it's business as usual for America's most popular sport, which is looking to keep its season on track without any delays.
